The Miles Morland Foundation proudly presents the 2023 Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarships, an unparalleled opportunity designed to inspire and support African writers in pursuing their creative ambitions.

About the Scholarship:

The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarships aim to recognize and reward the immense talent of African writers. The program seeks to give African writers, both new and established, the freedom to write without the pressure of financial constraints. The scholarships are granted for a year, during which scholars are expected to produce an extended piece of writing.

General Eligibility Requirement:

The scholarships are open to anyone writing in the English language who was born in Africa, or both of whose parents were born in Africa. Scholars are expected to write at least a full page a day, and at the end of the year, they must submit what they have written for review.

Geographic Focus:

The scholarships are open to writers of African origin, residing anywhere in the world.

Benefits:

Scholars writing fiction will receive a grant of £18,000, paid monthly over the course of twelve months. At the discretion of the Foundation, Scholars writing non-fiction may receive a grant of up to £27,000, paid over a period of up to eighteen months.
