Scope of Grants Management Intern Work: This internship offers a unique opportunity for current graduate/undergraduate students to gain exposure to the operations of a large international organization. The role involves applying Grant Management methods to maximize the reach of IRC programming in Atlanta, GA. A minimum commitment of 15 hours a week for at least three months is required.


  • Collaborate with the Senior Development Management and Grants Coordinator on IRC Atlanta’s donor prospecting strategy.
  • Build a database for identified opportunities and conduct ongoing research related to pre-award grant opportunities.
  • Regularly update the grants calendar.
  • Attend grants webinars and information sessions.
  • Draft grant proposals for review by the Grant Coordinator or Senior Development Manager.
  • Provide support in other areas of identified projects as needed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain experience in grant management, a crucial skill in the non-profit sector.
  • Learn about the pre-award process for building a funding portfolio in a non-profit.
  • Understand the basics of proposal development and play a key role in ensuring proactive responses to business development needs.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of IRC Resettlement, Asylum, & Integration programming.
  • Gain experience in drafting and writing grants for aligned projects.


  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in a related field.
  • Comfortable with research, organizing content, and liaising with staff.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • English fluency is required.
  • Intern will need to supply their home workspace, computer, internet access, etc.
